And from the some other middle aged men rocking out department: Have just seen TopGear of The Pops, featuring Jeremy Clarkson on drums, Captain Slow on Piano and Hamster on Bass... and some real musicians helping out. It was "good".... and so you should hear yet another middle aged man rocking out.

Unwinding from a long project over this break....picked up computer MUSIC ESSENTIAL SELECTION 2007 and have been trying REAPER and the various free VST Instruments and synths it has on the CD.
Here is a 30 second mp3 loop, AdrianBruce-metalfunk49loop, instrumental techno rock(?). This is VST drums, Bass, Organ, Pad and then real guitar, played by me. This is just Lo-Fi fun as used a Tascam PortaOne as the Mixer into the PC, and programmed the accompaniment with the Midi Grid editor in Reaper. The headphone output of a guitar practice amp was taken via a load to the input of the PortaOne. Anyone interested?

Seasons Greetings, and hope 2007 is a better year for us all..
.....and before you ask, here is something bloggish. Some what inspired by a colleague, Jon Blum.. He was the best dressed guy at the Christmas party....
Been reading "The World According to Clarkson", "Scott McCloud- Making Comics" , developing/playing with a Vista Gadget, listening to "BTO - The Anthology, Eskimo Joe, Wolfmother, Boston" and looking through "CONCEPT DESIGN 2" and "Car Styling Issue 174". Also fixing a few things around the place and throwing out some old junk. All while being thankful that the temperatures have stayed down for the year end break this year in Sydney, as the airconditioner broke as we all went on holidays.
Been very busy with new projects the last few months, putting a hold on some ongoing. Have also seen that traffic isn't moving from the old site to this one very quickly. So if updates seem slow, it is because your one of the few here, and your not making enough noise. Emails seem to have really dropped off in the last ten months. I rarely get an email from those I've emailed, so I guess SPAM filters and the fear of opening something from someone you don't know has dramatically changed the Internet, and people don't bother any more. A pity. Or are they all just over watching funny videos on YouTube?
Of the stuff we saw on TV in 2006, "Boston Legal", "Family Guy", "Mythbusters", "Topgear", "Spicks and Specks", "Battlestar Galactica", "SG-1", "Doctor Who", "Motor Sport", "Chasers War On Everything" and "Denton" were what we time shifted the most. In our household, "Medium", "Supernatural" and "Ghost Whisperer" are also on the must watch list. Japanese shows on VCD, DVD and VHS also take over the lounge room when available. "Densha Otoko", the TV series did it last year, and various Korean dramas have done it recently.
Didn't get to the Cinema in 2006. Only saw things when they came out on Rental DVD, and not many of those either. Still haven't seen "The Worlds Fastest Indian". Haven't put up the Java Funny Car Drag Race game with php, mysql backend either. A few of the many things we would like to do in the coming months.....
Had our 30year High School Reunion in November. I hadn't been to any of the previous two, or kept in touch with any of the 74 people that attended, and still found it very interesting. More than I had expected, so I suggest you go to yours, if you have a chance. People mature and get better with age...
And on that note..
Cheers!
